Faiths Act Birmingham is Proud to Announce Art 4 Action

Posted by Imandeep Kaur on Mon, 13/02/2012 - 10:32am

What is Art 4 Action?

Art 4 Action is a citywide art competition will be an opportunity for artist’s young and young heart from all over to express their views on global issues through the medium of art. A selection of work, including winning entries will be exhibited at MAC, Birmingham from 23rd – 28th April 2012. The exhibition will feature a variety of events and exiting opportunities for people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds across Birmingham and further afield.

The Judges

We have a eclectic and varied judging panel including world famous artists, and pillars of the Birmingham community, including Mohammed Ali (Aerosolarabic) of Soul City Arts, Iminder Singh of Iminder Arts, Peter Rookes (Birmingham Council Faiths), Tim Fawssett (The Feast), and Angela King (The Springfield Centre).  These will be profiled over the coming weeks so keep checking www.facebook.com/Art4Action for more information.

Art 4 Action Auction

One of our judges Iminder Singh of Iminder Arts has produced an inspired piece entitled ‘Saving Souls’ inspired by his Sikh faith he describes:

“In line with the ethos of Faiths Act, I believe that every human in this world has a right to life and health, and every human who is able, has the duty to help those in need. One of the very basic principles for spiritual growth is to look at everyone as equal despite colour, caste, creed, religion or social status. Helping and providing love to those in need before helping ourselves (Sarbath da Bhallaa) is something a Sikh must aspire to put into thought and practice where possible. As part of the Art4Action campaign I have attempted to illustrate these very teachings in this piece – our much-needed effort to Saving Souls from the clutches of Malaria.”

See Iminder’s blog post here and join in the auction to raising much needed funds for the Faiths Act Sierra Leone Malaria Eradication programme: http://iminderarts.com/saving-souls/
