Faiths Act Birmingham Edinburgh Marathon 2012

Posted by Imandeep Kaur on Mon, 30/01/2012 - 11:58am

Here at Faiths Act Birmingham we are very excited to have multi faith team of 32 runners competing in the Half Marathon and Full Marathon in May 2012. The team under the guidance of Birmingham Faiths Act Fellows Immy Kaur and Steve Hirst will act together to help raise £5000 for the Faiths Act Sierra Leone malaria project.

You can help the team by helping them reach this target at: www.justgiving.com/FABMarathon2012

Some quotes from the team:

Faiths Act Fellow Immy Kaur: “I am absolutely over the moon that we have joined 32 people together of different faiths, backgrounds, and interests together to take on this challenge together, and help combat the huge injustice of Malaria”

Faiths Act Fellow Steve Hirst: “I am looking forward to the challenge of doing a full marathon, its always been something I have wanted to do, and am so pleased to be doing it for such a great cause”

Half Marathon Team Member and Soorma Foundation Director Bobby Gill: “We are proud that Sikh ethos Soorma Foundation is supporting Faiths Act Birmingham, No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.”

Half Marathon Team Member Simarjeet Kaur: “Life in developing countries is usually made up of struggle, which is made worse with such disease as Malaria. I feel motivated by the strength of these people. I will work hard to train for the marathon, raise lots of money and to ensure that others know about the work of Faith Acts and the Tony Blair Faith Foundation.”

Half Marathon Team Member Raj Bansal: “A disease that shouldn’t exist in today’s world, so this is a small way to raise money to help eradicate it”

Half Marathon Team Member Harinder Singh: “The fact that malaria is preventable and curable but it is still killing people everyday shows that we all need to get together and help. Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something....”
